All About Us

The United Reformed Church.

The United Reformed Church is one of the mainline Christian Churches in the UK.

In 1972 the Church was formed by the union of the Congregational Church in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England. In 1981 the Re-formed Association of Churches of Christ joined and then in April 2000 the Congregational Union of Scotland also joined.

We accept Jesus Christ as God's son and Saviour of all. We see the Bible as God's guidance for daily life.

Our decision making body is the Church Meeting which meets every two months. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, but only members can vote. The Church Meeting elects Elders who help the Minister to create a caring Church, and are responsible for all aspects of the welfare of the Church and congregation.

Sunday at Church

The morning service is for all the family. Everyone meets in the Church for the first part of the service, after which you people move to the adjacent meeting rooms for Junior Church and todlers to the creche.

The Lord's Supper (Communion) is celebrated at Morning Service on the third Sunday of each month and everyone is welcome and invited to partake.

The Sacrament of Baptism or Blessing may also take place within the morning Service by arrangement with our Minister. Tea and Coffee are served in the main hall after the service where all can meet for continued fellowship.
